Basic
plan:
Your 35mm slides will be scanned,
digitized and saved on a CD or DVD. |
|
|
We will scan 35mm slides at around 1200 x 1800
dpi and saved in jpg format.
This will give you good quality files for:
1. enjoy beautiful quality slides on 52 inch HD
TV screen, and
2. make good quality prints up to 5x7 size.
(See options
for scanning higher resolutions and/or saving
in Tiff format)

You can view the disk (either CD or DVD) on
your PC or Mac.
Some DVD players can play jpg files on a disk
on your TV as a "slide show".
(please refer to your DVD player's manual)

The original slides will be returned to you
after scanned.
We've seen more customers want to abandon the
slides, because
more than 10 boxes of carousels will go on to
a single DVD.
If this is the case, we will still keep the slides
for a week after the job is picked up.
After the week passed, we will not be responsible
for redo the work or the original slides.

Important note:

When we receive the slides in carousels
or slide pages,
we will NOT put these slides
back into the original carousels or
slide pages.
Instead, all the slides will be put
in clear plastic bags by groups.
If you need to have these slides
returned in original order, there
will be a charge of:
-1. $19.95 per slide carousel.
-2. $5.95 per slide page
-3. all other box or container will
be quoted on case-by-case.

We will not scan your slides in a
certain order, such as in numerical
order or by dates.
We will, however, can make separate
folders by groups, such as carousel
#1 to #10
(we can separate files by carousels
but not in certain orders in that
group).
Once your slides are digitized, you
can organize these files as you like
in your graphic application.
If you are not sure what application
to use for organizing your digital
files, a good start will be:
- for Windows users - Free from Microsoft
(Windows
Photo Gallery ) or a Freeware
Ifranview.
- for Mac users - iPhoto

We will not be responsible for rotating
the image (vertical, horizontal or
which side is up or down).
For instance, a sleeping cat image
can be used in vertical or horizontal.
It is not part of "Scanning job"
to determine how an image be used.
We digitize your slide films, that's
our job - how to use these digital
files are up to you, not us.

You might see extra space around the
slide, so the scanned image will cover

We respect your privacy and confidentiality sincerity and
deeply.
Being in photo business over 25 years, protecting customer's
privacy is a part of our daily workflow.
To show our sincerity in writing, we have our Confidentiality/Non-Disclosure
Agreement Form ready for you.
You can download this form, print your (company) name, sign
and dated, then bring the form with your work.
Let us remind you again that none of your slides will be out
of our lab, they stay here.

Are you scanning all my slides in house?
|

Yes.
All scanning job is done in house. No slides will be sent
out, none.
No chance of lost on transit. Your privacy is well kept.

Are my slides returned after the scan?

Absolutely Yes.

Can you scan my slides in particular
order?
|
| |
In general we don't scan you slides in particular orders,
with the following exceptions:
1. When a number is clearly written on each slide, we can
follow with no additional free.
2. When you order the special
handling fee , we will follow your instructions.
Other than the above, we don't scan your slides in particular
sequence.
Because we don't believe most people want to pay us for our
extra time doing so.
What is "our extra time doing so" ?
To follow the sequence of a carousels, or a page, we have
to go through the following steps:
Technician A (an assistant ) will prepare your slides by -
1. number the carousels box itself (a master number for the
slides contained) with a label
2. take out each slide and number it on back, one by one with
pencil
3. place them in numerical order for scanning process.
Technician B (scan pro) will -
4. air clean the slide
5. scan by numbers
6. send to network for quality control and CD/DVD burning
Technician A will then -
7. put slides back in carousels by their original numbers
This is a VERY time consuming process, especially for the
original slides
which may not be used anymore.
Why can't the scan pro technician just take your slide out
from a capsule direct ?
1. when we miss one slide, we have no way of finding the correct
order.
2. removing from carousels or pages is a time consuming job
we can't let our expensive scanning machine and technician
occupied with these non-scanning procedures.

Can I combine my 35mm Slides with
Photos and/or my old Letters?

Yes.
You can combine Letters, Photos, 35mm slides to get quantity
discount.
Each will be separated by a different folder name.

How big digital
files can I get from Slide Scan?

We scan 35mm slides around 1200 x 1800 dpi each.
This is good for:
1) Enjoy beautiful quality slides on 52 inch HD TV screen,
and
2) Make a good quality print up to 5x7 size.

Can you scan my slides at higher resolutions
?

Yes.
We can scan at 1500 x 2100 scan - with 50 % up and
at 2400 x 3600 dpi with 100 % up.

As long as you have around
12200 x 1920 pixels in a file( our basic plan ),
increasing resolution doesn't make any better on an HD
TV monitor viewing. |

It's not numbers of
"dot"s that define image quality, but quality
of each "dot" really matters.
There are companies out there advertising that:
-1. they use camera manufacture's desk top slide scanners.
-2. they offer bigger file size with cheaper price.
If you compare their compact desk top slide scanner vs
our Professional industrial processor,
the quality difference is clear.
How good and clear information can each "dot"
capture from your slide is the key for quality
slide scanning processing.
It is not all about 1200x1800 or 2250 x3250 kind of numbers
that others advertise.
So don't be fooled about pixel numbers that others are
offering.
If each "dot" is bad, no matter how many dots
is a file, it's still a bad file. |

Bigger file from Slide Scan is NOT as good as bigger
file from Photo Scan.
In other words, you can't see as much difference in
slide scanning as photo scanning when the
scanning resolution is doubled.
Why?
Because the actual image size of 35mm slide is so small
compared to 4x6 photo, that
we've already enlarged a lot more to get the same file
size of 4x6.
So further enlargement from this small 35mm slide will
NOT increase image quality.
Even worse, you can see large film grains all over the
image that ruin the total image quality.

What format digital file am I getting
on a disk?
|

Jpeg files.
However we can save in uncompressed Tiff files with 50 % additional
charge.
In real world, with these rather small files (6 to 24mb each),
it doesn't make much of quality difference between jpeg and
Tiff.

What am I getting with the basic Slide
Scan plan?
|

A CD or DVD with all scanned digital image files on.
You can play it on your computer (PC or Mac) and copy it freely.
|
Can I play the
Slide Scan CD/DVD you created on my DVD player ?
|

Unless you order a movie
DVD as an option, the answer is basically No.
Because the files on the CD/DVD are "still photo"
images of your slides.
They are not encoded (programed) to play as a movie on your
DVD player.
However, there are two ways to make the data file "move"
(play).
1. You can order a Movie
DVD option at $29.95 extra.
or
-2. There are some DVD players that "Play" jpg files
as if they are movie file.
Please check your DVD player's manual for more details.

Can you use my music
as background music for my DVD movie?

With an additional $15.00,
we can put your music on the movie DVD.
Please provide us with a music CD or Mp3 files.

Can you put
a title on the Slide Scan DVD movie?

Please make the title simple and short, like;

What size of Slides can you scan?

No.
Once the CD/DVD is out from our store, it can be easily copied.
As a company policy, we don't accept money back request on
any CD/DVD orders.
No exceptions.

How long does
it take?
|

Slide scanning services normally take a couple of days to
a week.
Since all scanning job is done in our lab,
please let us know if you are in a hurry or dead-on time limit.
We try our best to meet your request with or without extra
fee.
